Was Kotik Dethroned?

We had bad days after Kotik came half dead to us. Not only he had his leg with bites. All his muzzle was cut in pieces, practically. Probably he was dethroned, we thought. There are young cats and Kotik is old enough.

My neighbour told me, the young white-black cat that came to beat Basja when Kotik was ill and who knows where hidden from all the bads, so, that young cat, says she has all the muzzle cut too. He has even one eye closed.

I wanted to remember when he was born and found this post: The short story of Kotik from 2006. So, I was not right, Kotik is not from 2005 and has only 4 years. He was very calm and lazy kitten because the first born and biggest of his brothers. The problòems began for him when his father wanted to catch him from here. At the beginning Kotik run in the house every time father or maybe other cats too beat him but I did not allow him to enter the house. I wanted he affronts them because he was and is a stray cat and has to fight to survive.

Kotik did not want to go away and had to fight. He was young and healthy, could eat good, we cured his wounds, and one day arrived his time when he won his father (Kotik seems to be a winner). It happend in 2007, he was only 1,5 years old.

He was a King only 2 years. If he was dethroned last week.
I've seen him today. He came to eat. It seems, his leg is improving. I hope, he will pull down all his enemies that were happy to see him half dead. Long Life the King!

Kotik fights against Foxes

After the death of Stassi Kotik does not stay here much. She was his "mother" and he loved her, probably. He joked with her sometimes. As you see on the photos, he occupied her place etc.

We think, he has a great territory. He is very busy to control it every day. Now he turns home only once in 2-4 days. And there are his kittens everywhere.

Какая Наглость!!!

Стасси и Котик

We did not see him one day, 2 days ago. But suddenly he came in very bad conditions. My husband called me and when I took him, I've seen his leg full of holes. Very big holes. Many. His leg seemed a sieve. First I thought about the worms. I've seen documentaries about the flys etc. But than we understood, those were holes from the teeth. It was a dog, we said. But it could not be, I thought than: there are not so little dogs here.

Than we understood: probably he had a quarrel with foxes. There is a family of foxes near us. If you follow my blog, you will maybe remember, I wrote about the slaughters of our hens they did in our henhouse different times a year or 2 ago. Let me see, here the first story and here the capture of the killer . I had other stories too because we captured the mother and 3 little foxes. And they killed our hens I do not remember how many times. From all that family remained only the father, we think. He created a new family than, but they do not come in our henhouse more (till today).

Kotik is probably not very wished neighbour. To control his territory, he passes near the house of the foxes. We saw once, he run from there to us so that we understood somebody followed him.
Now is the period when the foxes have little "kids" too. And a male cat surely disturbs them. So, this time Kotik had not fortune.

Поймали лисичку

Interesting is that they all know, they have to come to us for help.
We have a medicine for the wounds of the animals and we spread it on his leg. He slept on his place but than he felt bad and began to cry with expression: you see I feel bad, do something! I feel bad.
I took a tab and was afraid to give it to him. It is necessary to put it in the throat. How have I do it?
But he opened the mouth and allowed me to put the tab in the throut. And the second day too. After that he felt good enough.
I wanted to spay the medicine on his leg today but he don't want. His leg is in bad conditions but he don't want I cure him more....

The next days will show, if he will survive.

The life is too sad, I think.

Best Cats

After the death of Stassi I have not wish to write. We live with only Basja now. Kotik turns back only from time to time. He is the dominant male in our zone now and is very busy. Basja is the stray cat too, but she is a female and passes more time here with us. When it rains she even sleeps with us in the house.

She is very clever and learned what she has to do if she wants to eat and I or my husband sit for the PC. She comes near and looks at you (I let you know beforehand!). Than she puts her sweet legs on the thigh and streches herself. Still sitting? Suddenly she drives her clutches in the thigh ... with innocent eyes.

One day she made this trick with my husband. He run to me and cryed as mad.

Here is a nice collection of clips. Watch it till the end. There are interesting moments there.

Tampa park welcomes a baby giraffe

I rarely publish such letters -I receive tonnes of them in the last period, those who want to have advertising gratis. I published 2 of them to help poor persons, and now my mails are full of this kind of spam. Here I publish the interesting information and the photo they sent me.

TAMPA, Fla. (April 13, 2010) – Busch Gardens Tampa Bay welcomed a new baby reticulated giraffe just days ago. Weighing approximately 147 pounds at birth, the newborn is the calf of mother, Teesa, and father, Sterling. The addition brings Busch Gardens’ giraffe population to 15.

Mother and baby are currently in an area out of guest view so they can be closely monitored by zoo staff to ensure the baby is nursing and growing properly. The duo will join the other animals on the Serengeti Plain in a few months.

A giraffe’s gestation period is approximately 15 months, and the new baby will nurse for about one year. The term “reticulated” refers to the giraffe’s net-like pattern of spots. It is common for other members of the giraffe family to become involved with the care of newborns, and this baby will be joined by another new baby giraffe before summer. These births are part of a successful long-term breeding program at Busch Gardens.
